Pediatric Oncology Clinic in South Korea

The Severance Pediatric Hema-Oncologic Clinic offers world class medical attention to babies, children and teenagers for a wide range of hematologic and oncologic diseases.

The center is divided into two (2) departments: the Department of Oncology focused on leukemia, brain tumor, lymphoma and sarcoma treatments, and the Department of Hematology specialized in aplastic anemia, hemophilia and idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.

Dr. Chuhl-joo Lyu and his team are in charge of the clinic, where at this moment Medical Avenue is helping several babies and kids. Dr. Lyu, acknowledged as one of the most prominent specialist on the field, having experience at US and Asian top hospitals, is our most reliable physician. His professionalism has led him to successfully treat hundreds of kids from different nationalities.

What hema-oncology treatments/services are available at Severance?

Bone Marrow Transplantation and Stem Cell Transplantation:

The first successful bone marrow transplant at Severance Pediatric Hema-Oncology was performed in 1981. Since that point, the clinic has accomplished several landmarks in this medical field. Until today where the clinic operated 8 isolation rooms with the highest technology available for this type of procedures. The research coming from the same clinic has been applied to reduce the side effects of the transplant and to increase the therapeutic effect of it.

Long Term Follow up Clinic:

In 2015 the clinic opened “The Long Term Follow Up Center” for cancer survival kids. The purpose of the center is to provide regular observation programs and offer counseling to families to improve their life and their kids life and to prevent and diagnose on time complications that might rise ahead such as growth problem, development problem, neuro-cognitive problem, cardiopulmonary problem, endocrine problem, nephrology problem, gastro-intestinal problem, musculoskeletal problem, secondary malignancy.
